The Human Body: A Precious Instrument

Why should one strive to live according to the wisdom of
Vedanta? Most of us consider ourselves educated, intelligent,
and well-informed. Conditioned by our school and university
education, the mind convinces us that we are wise. Vedanta,
however, invites us to examine that assumption.
It tells us that we are not the body; the body belongs to us.
We can see and experience the body; the seer cannot be the seen.
The knower cannot be the known. The logic is simple, yet most
of us have never looked at ourselves in this way. Ignorant of
this knowledge, we spend our lives preoccupied with the body,
constantly pampering and identifying with it.

                                         The physical, mental, intellectual,
                                         and spiritual personalities must
NAGAVENI BADETHALAV all be blended in one harmonious
Sydney, Australia whole. Meditation is the technique
                                         of achieving this harmony.
                                                   Swami Chinmayananda
