Vasant Païcamé: Welcoming Spring
Welcoming Wisdom
urrently, across North India, mustard fields stretch out like
Cvast golden prayer mats, heralding the radiant festival of
spring – Vasant Païcamé. Though it is dedicated to Devi
Saraswati in many parts of the country, the entire nation celebrates
the day in diverse ways. Whether through a prayer to the
goddess, a kite released into the sky, or a child tracing the first
letters on a slate, the festival carries a profound message of
renewal. It presses us to ask: Can we initiate a spring within
ourselves? Can we shed old habits as naturally as trees shed
their dry leaves, making room for meaningful growth?
As we enter 2026, Pujya Gurudev’s words remain especially
relevant: “The day you decide to change yourself, that day will
be the New Year.” Thus, we invoke Devi Saraswati to bless us
with courage, purity, and knowledge – the very qualities that
make transformation possible.
Vasant åtu arrives effortlessly, but Lord Krishna’s instruction
in the Gita – uddhared-ätmanätmänam, lift yourself by yourself

– reminds us that inner change requires conscious effort. It is,
therefore, significant that the very first verse of the recently
launched Gita Panchamrit, a sacred sädhanä marking 75 years of
Chinmaya Mission, begins with the same call, setting the tone
for a determined inward journey.
Goswami Tulsidas describes how the advent of Lord Rama at
the height of spring caused nature to rejoice and the heavens
to celebrate. Likewise, this season urges us to uncover our own
Blissful nature. As we step into this special anniversary year,
we wish our readers a truly transformative 2026. May
we live in harmony, let go of all negativities, and
welcome the birth of the Divine in our hearts –
ushering in an abiding eternal spring. Editorial
