A Matter of Immense Pride
Every September, we devote a number of pages
to the results and toppers of our Chinmaya
Vidyalayas. Those of you who are not associated
with the schools may feel a little unhappy.
Pujya Gurudev flagged off the Chinmaya
Education Movement with a nursery school on May
20, 1965, and a letter outlining his vision, “Let us
give them a healthy physical and mental
atmosphere to grow, ingrain in them respect for
life, love for living creatures, team spirit, national
fervour, and pride in our hallowed, divine culture.”
We request you to spend some time glancing
through these pages, appreciate the concretization
of Pujya Gurudev’s foresight and let your heart
swell with pride at the achievements of these
children, our children, the future of India.
This month, we celebrate two major festivals –
Janmashtami and Ganesha Chaturthi.
An embodiment of Om, Shri Ganapati’s adorable
image is popular all over South East Asia right up
to Japan, where Indian traders carried Him to
ensure a safe voyage. Our prostrations to Lord
Ganesha. May He grant our children a brilliant
future filled with spiritual wisdom.
As they enter a new phase in their student lives,
may the image of Vasudeva carrying Baby Krishna
over his head, while crossing the raging Jamuna,
be forever etched in their minds. If we remain
centered on the Lord, He will always take out His
tiny, divine foot and save us from drowning in the
turbulent predicaments of samsara.
This Janmashtami, may Shri Krishna take birth
within our hearts and stay there forever.
