Satsang with Swami
Swaroopananda in
Toronto – 3
Pujya Swami Swaroopanandaji conducted a jnäna
yajïa in Toronto from July 20 to 24, 2024. After the
lunch and dinner bhikshas, Pujya Swamiji would
graciously hold informal satsangs with the devotees,
where the atmosphere was light, warm, and reflective.
We present here the third Q&A session from
these inspiring gatherings.

Question: Hari Om! I feel very happy and blessed. I
retired about ten years ago and have since been involved
in social work, which I absolutely love.
I have a temple at home with a full altar, where I usually
do my abhiçeka and püjä. However, on busy days, I
sometimes only visit briefly – my husband lights the diyä,
and I silently offer my prayers. Is that alright?
Swami Swaroopananda: No, you must do both. Don’t make
excuses. Service to society is indeed worship of God, but only
when done with the right attitude. Otherwise, we become
attached to action – even to good action. Good action by itself
is noble, and we should always do good. However, when it is
performed as an offering to the Lord with a spirit of worship,
it becomes Karma Yoga. Without that attitude, attachment soon
creeps in.
