P. 2
Fix your mind on any topic, and your devotion increases;
your faith increases; you become more and more confident: “I will
get it, I will get it, I will get it!” If you have inner strength (ätma
bala) and say: “It is not for me, this is the Lord’s will; it will
happen; it is for the blessing of everybody,” then it will
definitely happen.
This saìkalpa çakti is lost when the mind is distracted. By the
time you desire one thing, 10,000 other desires come up. Thus,
your mind becomes disintegrated. The mind is like Aladdin’s
wonderful lamp. Rub it, and the genie comes out. The genie is
ready to do anything that you order, but if you are given that
lamp now, you will get nothing done! You rub the lamp, and the
genie comes. “Master, what do you want?” You tell him your
immediate need – a cup of tea. The genie turns around to bring
the tea. But you call him again, and he comes back for your next
instructions. “Make sure it’s hot!” “Yes, Master,” he says and
turns around. Again, you call, “Genie! Add a good amount of milk
and sugar.” Once again, the genie turns, but you call out, “Don’t
forget to bring hot pakoras to go with the tea.” Now the genie is like
a top swirling around in the same place. He cannot do anything
because you don’t have the consistency of saìkalpa. Hundreds
of saìkalpas erupt together, and so nothing can be accomplished.
When you make your
mind single-pointed and
approach the altar, you
develop more and more
faith, and when you have
sufficient strength of saìkalpa,
it happens! It is not done
by Him! But it is alright for
you to consider that He did
it because, after all, He is
none other than you. You
may not know it, but He
is nothing but Brahman.
