of love. All I remember is while the other children were sitting on
their little benches, she picked me up and kept me on her lap
throughout the session. After that, I don’t think I ever missed a day
of school willingly.
The Art of Communication
Swamiji, you make a very important point. Teachers are
the kingmakers; they shape personalities and those sitting
here are dealing with a very different generation. They are
dealing with a mix of Gen X and Gen Z and have to devise
new ways of teaching. How would you address or bracket
this generation?
The main feature is that today’s children are exposed to a lot
of information available on social media. Even as far as the
subject matter of their syllabus is concerned, they can get all the
material. Since this information is freely available, teachers need to
give deeper insights into the subject so that students can process
the information they receive and make it usable knowledge
with understanding.
Earlier, we could get away with just giving information as it
is the first step of education. Interestingly, the teachers we
remember are the ones who presented the subject matter in
such a way that we could study it easily and make it our own.
Books can give us information, but the teacher gives us
insight. Developing that ability to provide a deeper insight and
understanding of the subject is a key factor in today’s model of
instruction.
SMT. GOWRAMMA & Learning is the beginning of
education. Learning is fulfilled in
SHRI K. SEETHARAMA RAO education.
